(Bogota).- Marco Emilio Hincapié, a member of the national government party, will now be in charge of Coljuegos, the entity that regulates games of luck and chance in Colombia, after the departure of Roger Carrillo, who was in charge for two months and two days after being appointed by the then Minister of Finance, José Antonio Ocampo.

The general secretary of Colombia Humana to be the new president of Coljuegos

Hincapié is the Secretary General of Colombia Humana; He is also known for being a leader of the alternative and progressive movement of Tolima and has been part of various political campaigns in the department. In addition, he was a deputy to the Tolima Assembly and councilor of Ibagué. In other words, the position will be assumed by a figure who is closer to President Gustavo Petro.

It is important to take into account that on Friday, May 5, Roger Carrillo resigned from his position before the current Minister of Finance, Ricardo Bonilla. With his departure, the Conservative Party was left without the entity that for years has been their quota; In other words, the theory that was handled after the departure of Carrillo, obeys the sequel left by the break in the coalition of the Conservative Party with the Government.

This after the health reform did not receive the support that the president expected, several of the officials who represented him immediately left the government, including the former Minister of Transportation, Guillermo Reyes.

It is worth mentioning that Carrillo, even without having any experience in the gambling sector and being questioned about his work in Social Security and as a councilor, was successful by the Council of State. While the new president of Coljuegos arrives, Sammy Libos Zúñiga remained as president in charge.

Resignation of Roger Carrillo

Through Decree 0889 of Friday, May 5, the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit suffered the resignation presented in April of Roger Carrillo as president of Coljuegos. The former official was critical from the beginning due to certain controversies related to the appointment of he.

As stated in the brief: “By means of communication dated April 14, 2023, Dr. Roger José Carrillo Campo resigned the position of President of Coljuegos. That in the definitive absence of the owner, it is necessary to provide the job. Ricardo Bonilla, the new Minister of Finance, established the communication in which it was established that on Friday, May 5, Libos has the responsibility of leading everything related to that entity attached to the national Government.

Zúñiga is the current deputy technical director of the Fiscal Policy Sub-directorate of the Ministry of Finance and will serve as director of Coljuegos "while the job holder is appointed and installed without detaching himself from the functions of the position he holds," the Decree adds. .

Roger Carrillo had been chosen as director of Coljuegos through Decree 0288 of 2023 issued by the Ministry of Finance on March 3 of the same year. In other words, he had been in office for just over 40 days. Carrillo was nominated for this position by the president of the Conservative Party, Efraín Cepeda.

Some of the controversies

When the name of the possible successor to César Augusto Valencia sounded, a political scandal came out before the public opinion that had Carrillo Campo, writer, economist and Conservative politician, as its protagonist. Presumably, he posed as his political opponent, Roberto Pérez, to speak ill of the current government and thus eliminate the possibility that he was chosen by the Ministry of Finance.

W Radio announced that the appointment of Carrillo would have been one of the concessions that the Government would make with the Conservative Party prior to the start of legislative tasks, and in the face of a series of measures promoted by President Petro and that requires a mayor support in Congress.
